Preservation and Protection

We’ve gone to great lengths to protect and preserve the esker and its surrounding forest.

Why drink water from an esker?

Unlike other types of water, water from an esker is protected from the elements. The St-Mathieu-Berry Esker, where ESKA water comes from, lies beneath a virgin forest in a remote area of Quebec, shielded from the elements, untouched by man.

Filtered through nature's own water purifier

ESKA water comes from rain and snow which trickle slowly through layers of rock, sand and gravel deposited during the last ice age. This natural water purifier leads to a vast, subterranean aquifer – the esker. ESKA water is a renewable resource, replenished continuously with each shower and snowfall.

Naturally chilled by nature

At St-Mathieu, it takes more than 15 years for water to filter down to a pristine, clay-lined natural glacial aquifer. The result of this natural filtration process is water in the esker that is microbiologically pure, low in minerals, and consistently chilled to a refreshingly crisp 5 °C, a temperature too cold for any bacteria to exist.
