Spicy ginger & chili mocktail

Looking to spice things up? Comforting and energizing all at the same time, this spicy ginger & chili mocktail is made for cool summer evenings at the cottage. Sip on fresh sparkling water while you soak up that fresh lakeside air. Bliss.

Recipe for 4 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of (non-alcoholic) ginger beer 
  • 2 cups of Eska sparkling water 
  • Juice of 2 limes 
  • 10 or so pieces of candied ginger 

Garnish for the rim 

  • 4 tbsp sugar 
  • 2 tsp pink Himalayan salt 
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Prep 

  1. Combine the sugar, salt and chili on a small plate. 
  2. Rim the 4 glasses with half a lime then roll in the chili garnish. 
  3. Pour ½ a cup of ginger beer, ½ a cup of sparkling water and the juice of half of a lime in each glass and gently mix. 
  4. Garnish each glass with 2 or 3 pieces of candied ginger. (For extra spice, blend the ginger with water ahead of time and mix the purée into your cocktail). 

Serve with dark chocolate and chipotle chili cookies for happiness guaranteed.


Tangy mocktail with fruit shrub

Shrub is a cocktail favourite these days, made with a combo of fruit, sugar and vinegar. It adds a touch of acidity and sweetness, without having to use citrus fruits from abroad or traditional syrups that are loaded with chemical additives. Choose a few local fruits you love and create your own tangy shrub mocktail, an original way to stay hydrated on hot summer days.

Recipe for 4

Ingredients

For the shrub

  • 4 cups of your favourite fruits (raspberries, cranberries, apples, pears, etc.) 
  • 1 ½ cups of sugar 
  • 1 ½ cups of water 
  • ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar 

For the mocktail

  • 4 cups of Eska lemon sparkling water 
  • 4 slices of lemon 
  • A handful of frozen fruits (blueberries, cranberries or raspberries) 
  • Ice cubes made with Eska natural spring water 
  • A few pinches of sumac for decoration (and to enhance the tangy notes) 

Prep

For the shrub

Add all the shrub ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Simmer for about 5 minutes and set aside. Strain through a sieve once the mixture has cooled.

For the mocktail

Add ice cubes to all 4 glasses. Pour a ¼ cup of the fruit shrub into each glass and add 1 cup of sparkling water. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a pinch of sumac.


Detox mocktail with chlorophyll kombucha

Recipe for 4

Ingredients

  • The juice of 2 pink grapefruits 
  • 2 cups of chlorophyll kombucha 
  • 2 cups of Eska lime sparkling water 
  • 4 tsp of fresh pollen
  • Fresh mint leaves 
  • Ice cubes made with Eska natural spring water

Prep

  1. Pop a few ice cubes in each glass. 
  2. Add 2 or 3 mint leaves. 
  3. Pour ½ cup of grapefruit juice into each glass. 
  4. Add ½ a cup of chlorophyll kombucha and ½ a cup of sparkling water. 
  5. Mix gently. 
  6. Sprinkle with pollen.

Bitter mocktail with herbal tonic

Italians have been fans for centuries and North Americans are slowly catching on. Ingredients

  • 4 cups of Eska orange sparkling water 
  •  2 to 4 tbsp of rustic tonic (to taste) 
  • The juice of 2 oranges 
  • 4 tsp of sugar cane 
  • A few drops of apple cider vinegar 
  • Ice cubes made with Eska natural spring water
  • 6 orange slices 

Prep

  1. In a mortar, pound the ice, sugar and two slices of orange. 
  2. Pour the mix into the 4 glasses in equal parts. 
  3. Add tonic to taste, the juice of half an orange and a few drops of apple cider vinegar to each glass. 
  4. Mix vigorously. 
  5. Add 1 cup of Eska orange sparkling water to each glass. 
  6. Garnish with the orange slices.

Sweet mocktail with homemade grenadine syrup

  • ¾ cup of homemade grenadine syrup 
  • 4 cups of Eska lemon sparkling water 
  • The zest of 2 lemons 
  • A handful of frozen pomegranate seeds 

 Prep

  1. Pour the grenadine syrup into the 4 glasses in equal parts.
  2. Add 1 cup of sparkling water to each glass. 
  3. Zest the two lemons over each glass, allowing the oils to penetrate. 
  4. Stir gently. 
  5. Garnish with pomegranate seeds. 

Serve with a big bowl of fresh Bing cherries when they’re in season.
